“With my art I take up a colorful, flowing, loving, emotional, happy, strong space in this world. Every day I am creating feminine spaces where I and other women can flourish and live their inner goddess - Everyday I plant a seed that lets the paradise that we lost grow again and i hope to inspire other women to do the same."
In 2012 I started studying interior design at the Burg Giebichenstein, University of Arts in Halle (Saale), Germany. I had the vision to create spaces that would inspire and move their inhabitants. Energetic spaces in which we would find access to our truest selves. In 2016 I found an approach for this vision in my exchange semester at the University of Fine Arts, ISA (Instituto Superior de Bellas Artes) in Havana, Cuba. The university combines the careers of dance, music, theater and visual arts. The stimulating atmosphere of music-making, dancing and creating students, who were spread across the campus, cast a spell over me and literally flooded me with movement.
The bold colors and sensual surface structures of older house facades, which frame the life of Cubans and bring the streets to life, exuded as much life as I only knew from art.
Nourished by those experiences, colors and movement became symbols for life and present being. Back in Germany I focused more and more on painting. Abstract emotions that were difficult to explain became visual in tangible compositions of color and form and perceivable for others. My paintings are my non-verbal communication, they give impulses and initiate a dialogue within a person. They are created in a flowing impulsive process that is guided by my feelings. I'm not looking for subjects - they unfold during the work process.
The result of this process are always series of works that were created in a certain period of time and carry the same title. Working on various paintings at the same time allows me to explore and connect emotionally deeper with each subject that comes up during the work process. When choosing colors, I am inspired and guided by the vibrancy of the seemingly limitless color pigments. In this process strong, bright colors easily connect to soft pastel tones in the painting and all imaginable nuances of the infinite color landscape cover or flow around each other, sometimes translucent sometimes opaque.
With pleasure I watch how colors combine or repel each other visually when they are applied and reunite harmonized with another glaze. Numerous color compositions are created effortlessly through the dedication to the process, which allows me to experience the individual beauty of each pigment and to bring it to life differently in each created painting.
